About us

Capital Concert Band is a dynamic community wind band currently based in Leith St. Andrew’s Church on Easter Road. Established in February 2004 with fourteen members, the Band now numbers over fifty. We were privileged to have Kevin Lamb, MBE serve as our Musical Director for twenty years, where the band grew from strength to strength.  After Kevin's retirement in 2024, we were delighted to welcome Dean McGain-Harding as our new Musical Director!

Noted for its varied musical and entertaining programmes, the Band has performed in various prestigious venues throughout Scotland, including the Great Hall in Stirling Castle. It has also represented the UK in a tri-nation commemorative “Concert for Peace” in Verdun, France in 2012 and performed at a highly prestigious concert in Gibraltar in 2015.

As a highly active Band, we carry out three major concerts locally each year. We also undertake a number of concerts outwith the capital. The Band also boasts a number of smaller ensembles which carry out engagements upon request. These have included ‘Riding of the Marches’ in Edinburgh City Chambers and various weddings and celebrations.

Capital Concert Band is a registered Scottish charity and one of its main aims is to bring live music for all ages to the local community and beyond. It also highlights a particular charity each year, and raises funds for their work – in 2019 we raised over £10,000 for charity at our concert in the Great Hall in Stirling Castle.

Ensembles

In addition to our main concert band, we can offer smaller groups/ensembles, ranging in size from four to sixteen musicians. We have a group to suit all needs, whether it’s civic functions, open days, fêtes, birthday parties, weddings, ceremonial occasions, etc we are sure we can provide suitable entertainment.
